The Pompano Beach Cultural Center presents Baila Pompano

Get ready to move! Latin dancing is returning to the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. Following on the heels of the Center’s much-beloved dance series Sabado de Salsa, Pompano’s newest participatory dance program will be kicking off in October.  Presented by renowned Latin dancer and instructor Alex Bezianis of Poppin’ Events, Baila Pompano will include salsa, bachata, and other Latin dances, with each event including a one-hour dance class, a live eight-piece band, a DJ, and performances by professional dancers. The program will be held quarterly at the Center, starting at 8pm, Friday, October 21, 2022. Old Town Untapped Overflows with New Experiences and Even More Entertainment

ld Town Untapped returns this October with a jam-packed schedule and lots of treats for art-lovers of all kinds! On the first Friday of each month, Old Town Pompano Beach becomes the epicenter for art, food, and live music. As always, the popular event features a live band, DJ, food trucks, arts & crafts vendors, and gallery tours at Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA). Black Cemetery with 328 Graves Discovered Under Building in Tampa Bay

     This past week, archaeologists in Tampa Bay, Florida reported the discovery of 328 graves under St. Matthews Baptist Church Cemetery. Gravesites that according to The Tampa Bay Times were supposed to be relocated nearly 70 years ago when the church agreed to sell the land to a group of developers. Back then, St. Matthews Baptist Church was fighting a mountain of city fees assessed to the segregation-era cemetery. Church leaders found hope in a trio of businessmen who agreed to take on the debt in exchange for the land. […]
