Boyd H. Anderson High School unveils newly renovated $2 million media center with ribbon cutting ceremony

Media center is part of BCPS SMART Program Improvements

Recently, (Aug. 25, 2017), Boyd H. Anderson High School unveiled its new media center – a $2 million media center renovation as part of the District’s SMART program improvements. The ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated the new state-of-the-art facility, which reflects Broward County Public Schools’ (BCPS) emphasis on increasing innovation and technology for students and staff.

Named after the school’s mascot, the new Cobra Research Center serves as a model for BCPS media centers being designed to serve as the learning hub of schools. With updated technology and learning spaces, the Cobra Research Center provides a learning environment that encourages students and staff to connect, create and collaborate.

The Cobra Research Center features instructional areas with desktop computers and interactive flat panel screens for presentations, new furniture, and bright orange accent walls. For small group collaboration, the media center provides movable tables and an interactive presentation system, so students and staff can easily work in groups to collaborate with digital tools and resources.

“From our youngest learners to our high school seniors, we strive to provide our students with the technology and resources needed for them to reach their highest potential,” said BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “At every level, students’ lives are largely influenced by digital technology and we want to ensure they are provided with the best tools and resources to thrive in tomorrow’s world. Thanks to the SMART program, students and staff at Boyd H. Anderson High School are equipped with a state-of-the-art media center to support their learning as we prepare them for college and careers.”
