MIAM, FL — CAC-Florida Medical Centers (CAC) announced recently that the Miami-based health care company has opened a new medical center in Margate, extending its unique full-service, multi-specialty, coordinated care approach to Broward County.

The newly-acquired medical center in Margate, located at 4131 N. State Rd. 7, marks the first of several CAC-Florida Medical Centers planned for Broward County. CAC will also open a regional Wellness Center where patients can participate in a wide range of social, health and lifestyle classes and activities, including on-site exercise classes through the Silver-Sneakers Fitness Program, the nation’s leading exercise program for older adults.

In 2012, CAC expanded from its South Florida base to Central Florida, opening centers in Kissimmee and in the Pine Hills area of Orlando. Next month, the company will add a third Orlando center and will extend its Central Florida presence into Tampa Bay with the opening of two new centers there.

All CAC full-service, multi-specialty medical centers  offer comprehensive outpatient medical care, including primary and specialty care, pharmacy services, pain management treatment and diagnostic testing. Physicians are available 24 hours a day and transportation to the centers is provided to patients in accordance with their health plan benefits.

“Our nearly 50 years of successfully serving diverse communities in Miami-Dade uniquely position us to bring to Broward our ‘all in one place’ concept of providing quality preventive, primary and specialty care, including wellness activities that make such a difference in our patients’ lives,” said CAC-Florida Chief Executive Officer Mark Kent. “We also ensure our associates mirror the face of the community we serve to create an environment of comfort, familiarity, and understanding of our patients’ culture, language and traditions. The South Florida community has embraced our full-service, coordinated care approach and benefited greatly from the superb care and compassion of our physicians and staff.”

Many CAC associates are bilingual and some are even tri-lingual.

All of CAC’s medical centers have achieved certification by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a level one Physician Practice Connections® – Patient-Centered Medical Home™, recognizing the company’s long-time commitment to high quality primary and preventive patient care at its medical centers. In 2012, CAC also received additional recognition from NCQA for its achievement in Patient Centered Home measureable quality improvements.

CAC-Florida Medical Centers has also achieved three-year recognition through the Diabetes Recognition Program developed by NCQA and the American Diabetes Association to recognize physicians who have an established track record of providing excellent diabetes care to patients.

“By doing all of this, we’ve reduced unnecessary emergency room visits by 57 percent and in-patient admissions by 42 percent across patients in our diabetes program,” said Kent.

CAC currently owns and operates 15 medical centers in South and Central Florida. Its medical centers serve Medicare Advantage members of Care-Plus Health Plans, a Miami-based Medicare HMO with members in Tampa Bay, and patients with Original Medicare. The company also offers an affordable fee schedule for self-pay patients. CAC-Florida Medical Centers About CAC-Florida Medical Centers
