Florida based professional basketball league, The Urban Music Basketball Association (UMBA) partners with local Broward County School’ Guidance Counselors’ and  Broward Advisors  for Continuing Education (BRACE) on the 2nd Pick Up Fort Lauderdale Initiative 

   Edward Williams of the UMBA recently organized the Second Pick Up Fort Lauderdale Initiative. The event was held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, The UMBA partnered with King Security, Right Track Inc., and Broward County Schools local Guidance Counselors and BRACE Advisors from Boyd Anderson, Dillard, Fort Lauderdale, Nova, Plantation, South Plantation, Piper, and Stranahan High Schools to clean up Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, Fl., from Broward Boulevard to Oakland Park Boulevard. Former White House Coronavirus Response Task Force coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx told CBS on Sunday morning that the US should prepare for a probable summer surge of Covid-19 cases throughout Southern states.

Summer surges are now expected in the South, while winter surges are expected in the North, especially around the holidays, according to Birx. Birx said she pays close attention to statistics coming out of South Africa, where new Covid-19 cases have lately increased. […]

In recognition of its participation in raising awareness in our community, the City of Tamarac was presented with a proclamation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis. Vice Mayor Mike Gelin represented the City of Tamarac at the Broward AWARE Family Fun and Resource Fair hosted by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC).
