City of Lauderdale Lakes distributes new recycling carts

From Marna Mobley

The City of Lauderdale Lakes is launching a new Clean and Green Recycling Program, including new 64 gallon recycling carts. The 64-gallon recycling carts carry more than three times the amount of cans, bottles and paper than the cur-rent bins. This single-stream program will be available for use as early as Thursday of this week in some neighborhoods. For the resident’s convenience, the pick-up times for the new recycling carts will remain the same.

This single-stream recycling program will be more customer friendly because it offers City residents less hassle of separating the recyclable items given that all the items go in the same bin. One major benefit of the new program is it will positively shape the City’s quest to lessen the carbon footprint that residents place on our community, state, and planet.

Mayor Barrington Russell, Sr. stated, “I am excited about the future possibilities for the City’s New Recycling Program. We are constantly searching for ways to create a more sustainable community for everyone”. Through the Citywide Clean and Green Recycling Program, the City is poised to make a significant impact towards increasing community awareness of recycling initiatives and increasing recycling collection levels within the City.
