“You can only be loved as deeply as you love yourself,” @LoveCoachDaniSpikes reveals to a tribe of melanated queens at the eclectically beautiful Macaya Gallery in the Wynwood Art District in Miami to kick off the 2017 Curvy, Curly, Conscious Self-Love Day Party Tour.

Despite its name, natural coils or bodily curvatures play little roles for this growing social media movement [CCC] founded by the illustrious @TheShelahMarie, who discovered how to love herself through meditation and yoga after a lengthy battle with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. “Women must learn to love themselves; with intent,” she passionately stated at the event.

Plush pillows and area rugs lay around the gallery floor welcomed conversation and fellowship. Event attendees learned breathing and journaling techniques, were soul-fed from a dynamic panel of successful South Florida women, enjoyed a health-conscious lunch and participated in a Self-Love Olympics, an energetic questionnaire to evaluate if they were overflowing in love or nearing depletion. Regardless of where each lady fell on that spectrum, maintaining  balance was the lesson for everyone.

99 Jamz radio personality, Supa Cindy, sat on the panel and in a breakout session and kept it as 100 as she does on the airwaves. Her rawness combined with Shelah’s theatrical and comedic personality, allowed for many women to open up and share vulnerable tidbits.

“I just got out of a 10-year relationship where he only cared about himself,” an attendee revealed. “I came here today because it’s time for me to put myself first.”

DJ Divine kept the mood light with upbeat tunes throughout the day. Vendors and sponsors were comprised of women of color, authenticating CCC’s target reach.

There are three more stops on the tour – Chicago, Atlanta and LA. For more information, please visit curvycurlyconscious.com or follow the tribe on Instagram.
