FIRE RESCUE QUICKLY EXTINGUISHES FIRE AT SCRAP METAL YARD —  On Oct. 7, 2013, Fort Lauderdale Firefighters responded to 745 N.W. Seventh Ave. around 11:20 a.m. for a reported fire at a scrap metal business. The first unit arrived in just over a minute of being dispatched to find a large column of smoke and fire that could be seen for miles. A large pile of scrap metal and other debris was on fire in the rear yard of the business. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire with water and foam. Firefighters remained on scene to make sure all hot spots and debris were fully extinguished. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
