This week we’re profiling another woman of God that is married to the shepherd at a local house of worship. The featured First Lady for this week is Mrs. Bloneva Jones, wife of Rev. Eric Jones, Jr., Senior Pastor at Koinonia Worship Center.

Interview with First Lady Bloneva Jones

WG: What is your life verse? Why is this verse special to you?

First Lady Jones: My life verse is Luke 1:37, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” This scripture has carried me through some very difficult times in my life as a pastor’s wife. It has encouraged me to go deep and grow stronger in my relationship with Jesus Christ. This scripture compels me to dig deep into my faith zone to discover the inner me that only God knows that I have the potential to do incredible things for His glory! If God says that I can do it, then I can!

WG: Do you remember your salvation moment? Please discuss.

First Lady Jones: I will never forget the Wednesday night in 1975 when I heard a convicting message during a revival at the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church. I remember quickly getting out of my seat as the invitation to salvation was offered and the choir sang, “Just As I Am.” I surrendered my life to God, confessing that Jesus is Lord. I have experienced peace with God and purpose in my life ever since that night!

WG: Is there a special move of God that you would like to see an increased evidence of in Broward County?

First Lady Jones: A special move that I would like to see is an increased evidence of Broward County pastors and churches coming together united in prayer for our country at such a time as this. The Body of Christ, the church proper, is too separated. We are all dealing with all kinds of problems that are adversely affecting our communities as a whole. As a body of believers, we need to come together and pray our way through these problems and give hope to our communities as Jesus did when He walked the earth.

WG: What are the titles of your favorite Christian songs and singers?

First Lady Jones: I love all inspirational Christian music. When I am feeling down and need a lift or just want to praise and worship God, music is a way to open up my heart and be filled with joy. A few of my favorites are: “I Give You More” by Donald Lawrence, “My Soul Has Been Anchored In The Lord” by Donald Miller, and “I Don’t Know About Tomorrow” by Ira Stanphill.

WG: Do you watch or listen to other pastors? (national or local) Who are they? How are you impacted by their messages?

First Lady Jones: On occasion, I listen to Dr. Tony Evans of Oakcliff Bible Fellowship in Texas. Dr. Evans has a unique way of proclaiming the Word of God. His real-life illustrations communicate the biblical message clear and simple.

WG: Family Life-Your spouse (His name? Where and how did you meet?)

First Lady Jones: I am proud to be married for 41 years to Eric H. Jones, Jr. Founder and Senior pastor of Koinonia Worship Center. I met my husband at a church that we formerly attended, Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where we both sang in the choir. We were married on December 12, 1970, and are the proud parents of three married sons: Derrick, wife Nicole, Kaneil, wife Shavonne’, and Shevrin, wife Robin. We have three grandsons, Derrick, Jr., Cyrus, and Eric. Pastor and I have been in the ministry over 30 years.

WG: Do you have a secular job? If so, what is your position?

First Lady Jones: I am a retired Dade County School Educator. I was inspired to become a teacher by my favorite sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Sylvia Wilson. Her love, care, and concern for her students left a lasting impression in my heart.

WG: What are your personal interests/activities/goals?

First Lady Jones: I love to travel and see new places. Spending time with my family, children, and grandchildren is another favorite activity.. I enjoy ministering to women and young ladies. My goal is to open a child care center in the near future. It will be named Mimi’s Learning Academy for children ages two through five.

WG: Please complete the following; Jesus is my………..

First Lady Jones: Jesus is my PEACE.
