The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of Explorer Post 1160, which occurred on Friday, July 26, 2013.

Post 1160 commenced on May 22, 2013.  The Post number was selected in honor of fallen Officer Bryant H. Peney.

The graduation was conducted by Chief Franklin Adderley.  The week long academy class featured law enforcement topics including criminal law, police liability, traffic stops, defensive tactics, crime scene and military drill.

Law enforcement exploring is a program that is sponsored through Learning for Life.  The program prepares young adults between the ages of 14 through 21 for a future in law enforcement. It also assists young adults in gaining insight on the ideals and values of law enforcement.

Explore Post 1160 graduated nine students.  The program is currently accepting applications for prospective members.  Any future member is encouraged to contact Lieutenant Frank Sousa at fsousa@fortlauderdale.gov or Officer Nathan Stoner at nstoner@fortlauderdale.gov.
