Bunche Park Elementary’s General Obligation Bond (GOB) construction projects were kicked off in a ceremonial ground-breaking by District 1 School Board member Dr. Wilbert “Tee” Holloway and Deputy Superintendent of Schools, Chief Operating Officer Valtena G. Brown, and District staff and students.

The project scope includes the replacement of the existing school with a state-of-the-art facility to house approximately 350 students in pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.

The new facility will include instructional spaces for all grades, including self-contained classrooms for exceptional students, and specialized spaces such as music and art suite, media center, dining and kitchen/serving area, PE shelter, playground area, hard courts and playfield, and parking.

Slated to be completed next summer, the project is being designed by Zyscovich, Inc. with U.S. Green Building Council requirements. Bunche Park Elementary opened its doors in the early 50s. The GOB program provides a total project allocation of $8,221,079.
