Focus: Diaspora integration and investment in private sector development

Washington, D.C.  – Haiti Renewal Alliance (HRA) has partnered with George Washington University – Center for International Business Education and Research (GWU-CIBER) for its Seventh Annual Business Investment Expo & Conference in the nation’s capital. The HRA Expo is schedule for June 14-15 at the Marvin Conference Center on the GWU Campus in Washington DC.

The conference is a dynamic and innovative platform with a targeted focus and strategic approach to integrate the Diaspora in business investment initiatives in the Caribbean. HRA seeks to leverage its network to engage foreign investors and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through this platform. For the past seven years, HRA has been at the forefront of Diaspora engagement, promoting business development and investment in the Caribbean. “Engaging and Integrating the diaspora is crucial to creating a greater socioeconomic impact in the Caribbean region,” said Firmin Backer, chairman of the HRA Board.

HRA aims to connect its users to an array of services while also supporting local developing economies, particularity SMEs in the Caribbean. “Through innovative partnerships, HRA is developing a series of investment products and vehicles to facilitate sustainable economic development by leveraging Diaspora communities and their financial, human and social capital.” said Magalie Emile-Backer, VP of HRA.

HRA actively engages Diaspora investors, SMEs, international leaders, decision/policy makers for its long-term goals, this conference bridges together key stakeholders in the Caribbean and the Diaspora to build on this effort. HRA provides stakeholders with a platform to Convene, Connect and Broker. HRA currently focuses on Haiti, but looks to the future with hopes to broaden their reach across the Caribbean market.
