How do you know whose calling before you answer?

“And the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, Samuel! Samuel! Then Samuel answered, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening. 1 Samuel 3:10 (AMP)

Caller ID won’t help you here.

Have you ever been startled by a strange voice that you know you heard beyond a shadow of a doubt, yet when you asked who called you in the company of others, no one could say that they had?

What about being led to do something with the force of an erupting volcano, that drew you in like some form of magnetism that compelled you to do it?

One of the most uncanny things to happen to me was to answer out loud to a voice that had no physical appearance, yep that’s right sure did.

There are many other forms of phenomenal communications or alluring phantasm to which I have been duty-bound to move towards and be directed by.

I would dare to speculate that our great leaders in one form or fashion, experienced the transformative percussion of a voice or force that encouraged them to go forth and carve a way for others through what appeared to be an impenetrable petrified forest.

I wonder how many sleepless nights did Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. have because he was awakened, prodded  and pulled into; perhaps, I think that he thought it was a dream; in actuality it was his dream.

I’m glad that Dr. King didn’t freak out and not answer the voice that called him, the voice that only he heard even in his loneliness I’m sure he said, “Yes, here I am. Give strength and lead me.”

It didn’t matter if, how many times he answered or where he answered or in what manner he answered. The fact is, he answered.

His obedience to the clarion call that only he could hear has birthed the freedoms of others to listen distinctively to hear if they are being summoned to join forces to create the change that is orchestrated by the Voice with no physical appearance.

Do you hear what I hear?

Who’s calling you to step up to the forefront and lead a people out of darkness into a marvelous light?

As we celebrate one of our greatest heroes, our “Drum Major for Justice”, let us HEAR and not just listen to his life’s unfolding story as it recalls in superior detail, what it means to live after hearing the voice that calls for goodness sake.

After hearing that Voice and adjusting to His format and calling others to march to the rhythm in step with our Drum Major for Justice, who received his directions from the Voice, we can ascertain and live out the aspects of Dr. King’s, I Have A Dream.

“…Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, “Do you hear what I hear? Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy, Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song high above the trees. With a voice as big as the sea, With a voice as big as the sea…”

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8 (AMP)

When God calls you better answer.
