Lt. Col. Thaddeus Hamilton guest speaker for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., community event

The South Florida Community is cordially invited to attend the annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Mrs. Coretta Scott King Community Forum celebration sponsored by the Men of Destiny Community Outreach Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla, Pastor Douglas Russell, Jr., is the founder.

This historic event will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 5 p.m., located at the Midtown Arts and Business Commerce Center, 1033 N.W. Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The theme is “Where Do We Go From Here in 2014”. Community leaders and citizens will participate in the forum in addressing the community concerns in the areas of: employment, homelessness, economic development, education, politics, government, health, environment, spirituality, veterans, juvenile delinquency and crime.

Guest speaker will be The Honorable Lt. Col. Thaddeus “Thad” Hamilton (Ret.) of the United States Army, who currently serves as a countywide elected official, board member and former chairman of the Broward Soil and Water Conservation District, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He is a graduate of HBCU University of Arkansas, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and has over 40 years of experience in Agriculture and USDA on the local, state and federal level.

His community service is highly known through South Florida and the United States in serving as an exceptional humanitarian for social justice. He served as the Natural Black Emphasis Program Man. for USDA; National Resources Conservation Service for over five year and presently mentors young men for social justice “Rites of Passage” of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through the Men of Destiny Community Outreach, Inc., program.

He is the founding president of the National Pan Hellanic Broward County Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and an active member of the Broward County Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi. LTC. Col. Hamilton has mentored programs with the North Broward LINKS, Inc. and with over 100 schools in the Broward County Public School District in training students in coastal environment.
