Men of Destiny Community Outreach, Inc. recognizes faith-survivors in Observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

     The Community of South Florida is cordially invited to attend the annual Observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in honoring women of faith for their courage, determination and wisdom in sharing their faith with others in building a holistic environment for all citizens; because of their spiritual and educational knowledge of healing their testimonies have impacted our community in communicating to others the importance of health screenings and prevention.

This memorable event will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at 3 p.m., at The Midtown Arts and Business Center, 1033 N.W. Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; the 2013 theme is “The Art of Healing”.

The keynote speaker is noted scholar, professor, physician and an outstanding General Surgeon in the area of cancer patients, Dr. Robert E. Allen, Jr., whose achievements among his contemporaries are exceptional, as an expert in utilizing his gifts and talents from God in medicine. According to Founder and President, Pastor Douglas Russell, Jr., expressed, “Dr. Allen will discuss the treatment of healing including prostate, colon, skin and other cancer diseases.

A native Floridian born to the parents of the late Irma Williams Allen and Robert E. Allen, Sr., Dr. Allen is a  graduate of Lincoln Academy in Fort Pierce, Fla. and a graduate of the Historic Florida A& M University, Tallahassee, Fla., majoring in pre-med. After graduation he matriculated at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tenn., and earned a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University and internship at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Mich., surgical residency in New York City and San Francisco, Calif. and a graduate of the University California Medical System, San Francisco, Calif. During his last year in medical school he was awarded the highest honor of the Chief Residence. After graduation and was employed as the first African American Professor at the University of California at San Francisco.

Dr. Allen has recently retired and relocated to South Florida and is a member of Historic Mount Hermon African Methodist Episcopal Church, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
