On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach there was a Grand Celebration.

Anthony Moultry, II of Atlanta, Ga. and Amery Moultry of New York, N.Y. hosted 200 guests of family and friends as they witnessed the renewal of wedding vows that have united their parents for 50 years.

After a reception, guests were invited into the grand ballroom and seated at exquisitely decorated tables. Noted celebrity artistic designer, Richard Gonzales of New York and Amery Moultry created the ambiance for the celebration.

After a musical prelude by the band and opening greetings by the Master of Ceremonies, The Honorable Christopher L. Smith, Florida State Senator, announced the entrance of Anthony (Tony) Moultry and Bennie Moultry. They looked stunning as they were greeted by their guest with a high-spirited applause.

Rev. Michael Anderson of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Hollywood, FL graciously performed the vow renewal. The lighting of the Unity Candle was performed by Mr. Anthony Moultry, II. The blessing of the food was performed by Dr. Moultry’s brother, Rev. Benjamin Hooks of Saint John’s Baptist Church, Fort Myers, Fla. The guests then enjoyed a Champagne breakfast/brunch. Little Miss Makede McKinney (Dr. Moultry’s grand niece) rendered a violin solo after the guests had been served.

Amery Moultry narrated a video of his parent’s courtship, marriage, business ventures and travel adventures. After which a family friend, the Honorable United States Congressman, Alcee Hastings of District 20, presented a congressional proclamation stating that Nov. 2, 2013 was Anthony and Bennie Moultry Day.

The Moultry’s were pleasantly honored with a con-gratulatory letter from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Several other politicians that are family friends gave reflections and other friends offered toasts to the couple. There was a special tribute to the couple made by Tony’s sister Patricia Dixon. Dr. Spencer Wilson and Mrs. Dorothy Wilson (Bennie’s sister) of Chicago amused the guests with a colorful stroll down memory lane, highlighting the couple’s adventures through their early years together.

The delightful elegant celebration ended with remarks from the bride and groom and a dance to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.”
