New Creation Baptist Church celebrates their Camp Meeting

By Grace Fitz

On Saturday, June 1, 2013, the New Creation Baptist Church of Deerfield Beach, Fla. celebrated their “Camp Meeting” which demonstrated the church service of yester-year. Elder Howard Akins, Sr. was the guest speaker (Retaining Your First Love).

He explained the fellowship, love, sharing and respect for our Savior and His plan for our lives. After the service, we took a walk through the “home of the past” observing the living conditions and the environment.

Children made butter that was eaten over hot biscuits. They churned ice cream and ate tea cakes. Food was purchased using yester-year prices which included collard greens and dumplings, crackling bread, hoppin’ johns, tea cakes, syrup bread, fried fish, barbeque ribs and lemonade.

This event spear headed the celebration of Pastor Raymond Curry and First Lady, Lynisse Curry’s second year of pastoring New Creation Baptist Church.
