Second man charged in Connection with death of St. Louis honor student last summer

Police in St. Louis have charged a man who is currently behind bars for violating his parole in connection with the death of an 18 year old honor student.

Dewayne J. Strickland Jr., 25, was indicted by a grand jury and charged with first degree murder, assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the July fatal shooting of Aniya Cook.

Strickland is the second man charged in connection with Cook’s death.

Cook was shot to death on July 31st after she went to console her boyfriend about a shootout on the same block that had taken place a few hours earlier. The earlier shooting took the life of Alfonzia Williams, 19.
