The Elks Lodge #652 and Goldstar Productions
By Anita Chapman
Stanley Colvin of Goldstar Productions and The Elks Lodge #652, celebrated their 10th year of colloboratively making the tradition of bringing smiles to the faces of children living in Fort Lauderdale and surrounding cities a success.
December 2012, 150 under-privileged children assembled outside Fort Lauderdale Elks Lodge.
The excited children were there to collect Christmas toys, enjoy a meal and play around in the bounce house that was donated by Busy Bees of Deerfield Beach. Many homeless people also enjoyed a meal.
The managers at the Elks Lodge #652 displayed generosity by donating many of the toys. Because of Stanley Colvin, Anthony Blower and their family’s deep commitment to the community, 2012 was another unforgetable year.
Colvin and Al Jones, began funding the event December 2002 without donations and very few contributors.
As the toy drive grew and gained recognition in the com-munity, businesses, friends and community groups such as The House of Beauty and Ed’s Insurance of Deerfield Beach became partners.
The following companies from Pompano Beach assisted as well: GK Window Treatments, Interiors By Steven G., The Eastern Stars and IB Glazing joined their initiative.
In addition to the aforementioned companies, The Super-visor of Elections Office, Executive Director Henry L. Graham of The Liberian Economic Social Development Corporation and The Elks staff of Fort Lauderdale contributed generously.
The Elks Lodge and Goldstar Productions look forward to continuing to serve the community in this worthwhile endeavor in 2013 and welcome all philanthropic donations for the up-coming year.
