On Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 a community police Forum will held doors open at 6:45 a.m.; program begins at 7:30 a.m.  Free parking until 9:30 a.m. at the Tower Club, 28th floor, One Financial Plaza, 100 S.E. Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Under what condition is it appropriate for a law enforcement officer to use force?

The use or threat of force between police and the public dramatically shapes public perception.  Law enforcement is an important societal function and its effectiveness is hampered when tensions exist between the police department and the public it serves.

How do we rebuild trust and confidence, essential to developing community relations?             Join the discussion on this important issue as our panel offers their perspectives and insights.

The panel includes Chief Frank Adderley, Chief of Police, Fort Lauderdale Police Department; Frank de la Torre, FAU, Dept. Criminal Justice; Chief Assistant Broward County Public Defender’s Office and Chief Sean Brammer, Interim Chief, FAU Police Department Interim.

Moderator is Steve Wasserman, Chair, the Council for Educational Change, Executive V.P. Colliers International of Florida LLC.
