Trump decision has spiritual consequences for Israel

By Kevin Palmer

Not all in Israel were pleased when President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and ordered the State Department to begin moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The godly citizens of Jerusalem know the rainbow flag will follow the American flag to the home of the Temple Mount, one of the most sacred sites to the Jews.

According to a December 5, 2017, New York Times article, Of Course Jerusalem Is Israel’s Capital, “Jerusalem has been the center of the Jewish people…This is our capital and it always will be. It was taken away from the Jewish people by force. It was re-captured by force. If necessary it will be preserved under Israel’s jurisdiction by force.” Strong rhetoric, but will Israel’s clergy allow Jerusalem’s holy and sacred reputation be defiled by depravity? Their resolve will be tested when the U.S. Embassy is moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Unlike Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey, America will enter Jerusalem riding on a GOP elephant leading a rainbow procession.

According to a June 9, 2017, Times of Israel article, Over 200,000 attend Tel Aviv Gay Pride Parade, some 30,000 from abroad, “Amid tight security, revelers celebrate freedom and tolerance at annual event in the ‘most gay-friendly city. Tel Aviv’s annual gay pride parade…draws thousands of rainbow-clad revelers and cap off the week of events, parties and scantily-clad encounters.”

Therefore, President Trump’s decision may have political benefits for Israel, but it also has spiritual consequences.
