Watch: Did K-Mart Spoof Go Too Far With “Knickers” That Sound Like “N!ggers” Video?
It hasn’t been that long since Dr. Boyce Watkins called out Mountain Dew for an ad featuring Felicia the Goat and a row of black men depicted in a police line-up. Dr. Watkins characterized the men in the ad as “Gold teeth, ‘mean mugging,’ sun glasses wearing, white-t sportin, hard core n*ggaz ready to “get into some ol gangsta sh*t.”
Next up was a Uni-Ball ad featuring a swole and incarcerated gangster. In the Uni-Ball pen ad, the muscle bound prisoner–Dawg—receives a letter from one of his friends, Big G, entitled “Bust You Out, ” in which Big G. promises to bust Dawg out of prison. Both ads were eventually removed after an outcry from the public.
Now a there is a new K-Mart parody ad which is sort of a play on words, so to speak. No harm right? Well, what if one of the words in the ad is made to sound like the “N” word?
Apparently the ad is promoting knickers, but everyone in the ad is all like, “nicca please” or at least that’s what it sounds like. Anyway, you be the judge. Let us know what you think.
Here’s a bit from the peanut gallery in the YouTube comments section:
There’s one black guy so it’s OK
Im black and this is hilarious. Maybe cuz I used to watch too much Dave Chappelle but its still funny
For real, why can’t white people be funny without being racist or oppressive in some way? IDK how many Black people you get in this sh*t, it’s still racist as f*ck.
From what we hear, K-Mart is not happy with the spoof, probably because it’s so well done that people are probably on the verge of boycotting the store.
