13 IS A LUCKY NUMBER FOR ARTIS:

13 IS A LUCKY NUMBER FOR ARTIS: South Florida’s only Historically Black University, Florida Memorial, has named Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis as the 13th President, and the first woman to hold that position in its 135 years history. Artis has been acting president since July. She has “performed admirably during her six months in this position and has been embraced throughout the student body, the faculty and staff and the entire South Florida community,” according to a release. The Board of Trustees announced the appointment on Feb. 4, in the Lou Rawls Center for Performing Arts on campus. “I am impressed with her adept administrative and people skills,” said Charles George, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “She has hit the ground running and brings superb qualifications and leadership skills to Florida Memorial University.”
