AIN’T NO STOPPING US NOW, WE’RE ON THE MOVE IN OUR NATIONAL PARKS! — In the immortal words of MCFadden & Whitehead Americans of African, Native, Hispanic and Asian descent are claiming our birthright and embracing our legacy, rights and responsibilities to our publicly-owned lands system. This was never more evident than the past weekend, when people across the mainland and in Hawaii traveled to national parks in support of African Americans in the National Parks Weekend.  Frank and I traveled from Fort Lauderdale to join others who’d traveled from Georgia, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas and elsewhere to commemorate the journey of the Buffalo Soldiers who rode from the Presidio of San Francisco to Yosemite in 1904 to protect our fledgling national park. The completely harmonious weekend saw members of every generation including a woman over 90 who traveled from Allensworth, the first Black town established in California, coming together to camp, hike and be enthralled by the presentation of Ranger Shelton Johnson as Buffalo Soldier Elizy Bowman.             (Read full story on visit www.legacyontheland.com)
