Broward County Library Celebrates Juneteenth

 Free celebration of liberty with special guests, performers and activities

   BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Library (BCL) commemorates Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration honoring the official end of slavery in the United States. Enjoy free events all month long, including the legendary Blues & Sweet Potato Pie Festival.

The 25th Annual Blues and Sweet Potato Pie Festival, a free BCL signature event held at Northwest Branch/Apollo Park, celebrates Juneteenth from 1 to 7PM on June 13 with a day of family fun that includes a sweet potato pie contest, arts & crafts, food vendors, performances and a live blues concert.

Other free, noteworthy Juneteenth events include:

June 1 -27, branch hours, African American Research Library and Cultural Center

June 5, 3-5PM, Hollywood Branch

June 8, 3-4PM, Hollywood Branch

June 18, 3-4PM, Dania Beach Paul DeMaio Branch

June 18, 4-5PM, Tyrone Bryant Branch

All programs are free and open to the public, with registration requested.
