CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA – On Tuesday, February 18, Broward Health Coral Springs cut the ribbon on a newly built, $16 million medical-surgical and step-down intermediate recovery unit located on the fourth floor of the hospital’s south tower.
The new unit was unveiled in the presence of numerous distinguished leaders from the state, community and city. Among those in attendance were Coral Springs City Manager Catherine Givens, Coral Springs City Commissioner Shawn Cerra, Tamarac Vice Mayor Dr. Kicia Daniel and a representative from State Representative Hunschofsky’s office. Also present were Commissioners Nancy Stamper and Stacy Angier from the North Broward Hospital District’s Board of Commissioners. Attendees were given guided tours of the unit, including its private rooms, showcasing the latest equipment for advanced patient monitoring and care.
“This expansion not only boosts our ability to provide exceptional care, but the addition of private rooms elevates the experience for both patients and their families,” said Kristen Bowman, CEO of Broward Health Coral Springs. “I am deeply grateful to my outstanding team for their unwavering dedication in making this possible.”
The new unit adds 28 private rooms – 16 for patients in medical-surgery rooms and 12 for those who need a stepped-down, intermediate level of care. This increases the total number of inpatient beds at the hospital from 250 to 278.

DPR Construction was the general contractor and Nelson Worldwide provided architectural services for the project, which took nearly one year to complete.
