Broward County residents answered the call Friday as local leaders joined forces to support relief efforts for Jamaica following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.

Broward County Commissioner Hazelle P. Rogers, alongside Mayor Denise D. Grant of Lauderhill and Mayor Veronica Edwards-Phillips of Lauderdale Lakes, and Sharon Thomas of City of Lauderdale Lake, held a press conference Friday morning to highlight key initiatives aimed at helping those affected in the Caribbean.

“Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference,” Commissioner Rogers said. “Our community’s generosity shows the true spirit of compassion and unity.”

The City of Lauderhill expressed gratitude to residents and businesses who have already contributed, emphasizing that support is still needed. Donations of essential supplies and cash are welcome at multiple citywide drop-off points.
