Federal Workers get the gift of Music from Jazz in the Gardens

2500 furloughed TSA workers to receive free tickets for the March 9-10 festival at Hard Rock Stadium, compliments of the City of Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – City of Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert, III, and the Miami Gardens City Council will honor all the furloughed federal employees at Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) by giving them the gift of music. This expression of gratitude will be announced at a press conference by Mayor Gilbert on January 25, 2019 at MIA, Chef Creole, 2100 N.W. 42 Ave., Miami, FL 33125, at 11 a.m. The City will be providing these valued federal employees with free tickets to the 14th Annual Jazz in the Gardens (JITG), the City’s signature festival, happening March 9th & 10th, 2019.

“There are heroes among us. Since December 22, 2018, our economy in South Florida has in many ways been dependent on individuals, like these, who have not received a pay check, yet they still show up to work. The federal employees at MIA and FLL Airports have been our heroes. In appreciation for their service, Jazz in the Gardens is on us. The City of Miami Gardens is providing 5000 tickets to JITG to these employees,” stated Mayor Oliver Gilbert.

The 14th Annual Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival (JITG) is ushering in the 2019 festival season with another “top notch” lineup. On March 9-10, 2019 the highly anticipated festival event will immerse fans in the best of R&B, soul, jazz, hip-hop, and funk genres. Hosted by nationally syndicated radio personality, Rickey Smiley, JITG will produce this celebrated event for an anticipated 70,000 attendees at the world-class Hard Rock Stadium located at 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens, FL 33056.

Headlining the festival will be Lionel Richie, Teddy Riley & Friends featuring Blackstreet with Teddy Riley and Dave Hollister, Bobby Brown, and Doug E. Fresh with special guests En Vogue and Jagged Edge, The O’Jays, Stephanie Mills, Black Violin, Tye Tribbett and most recently added Brandy. This year’s Jazz in the Gardens All-Stars will feature Maysa, Chieli Minucci, Gerald Veasley, Lao Tizer, and Nelson Rangell.
