Foolish radio host insults himself

On Monday, February 24, 2020 Augusta, Georgia radio host Austin Rhodes repeatedly ranted Augusta-Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree is an A-hole and that he sucked. According to psychologists, this type of vulgar rant resembles the proverb, “It takes one to know one.”

In a Psychology Today article, “It Takes One to Know One,” Truth or Half-Truth? , clinical psychologist Leon F. Seltzer, Ph.D. wrote, “What it clearly implies is that the verbally attacking individual is only able to recognize – and be annoyed by – the quality being criticized because they themselves embody this fault.”  In other words, instead of insulting Sheriff Roundtree, Rhodes was admitting he was the A-hole and sucked.

Nevertheless, it was disrespectful and inappropriate for Austin Rhodes to publicly project his shortcomings onto Sheriff Richard Roundtree.
