Abner H. Cooper was born January 1856, probably in Jefferson County, Florida. He was the son of Jonas Cooper and Kitty (maiden name unknown). Census records give the place of birth of these parents as North Carolina. He married Rosa (Rose) Anna Hunter on March 22, 1880, in Jefferson County, Florida. Her mother’s name, as listed on her death certificate, was K. Roberts. Her father’s name is not known. After that, he moved around and worked on land owned by other various farmers. To this union eleven (11) children were born, two (2) of whom died in infancy.

Abner H. Cooper died on March 30, 1940. She died September 20, 1941, and both were buried at Brown Philadelphia Cemetery in Jefferson County, Florida. Also known as Scott Cemetery. There are no burial markers for Abner Cooper and his wife, Rosa, in this burying ground.
