Gary Forbes, former NBA player, gives back

By Lizzy Molina

Gary Forbes is a former professional basketball player who has played across the globe.

Over his twelve-year career, he’s played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors & Brooklyn Nets. Gary finished his career playing overseas for leagues in China, Israel, Italy, and Vietnam. Gary is one of 3 NBA players in the history of the NBA to have played at the highest level while battling type 1 diabetes. His determination and strong will allowed him to achieve his lifelong dream: to become an NBA basketball player.

Now, Gary has taken his talents to the world of authors with the creation of SOLE SURVIVORS. This series aims to inspire, educate, and provide awareness of the daily health challenges children and many other people across the world face with chronic health conditions. Gary’s intent is to instill the perseverance and mental guidance to live a healthy lifestyle against all odds and to communicate that diagnoses are not barriers to success, but springboards.

Volume 1 tells the story of eleven Superhero child characters who go through major everyday struggles while battling chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, autism, cerebral palsy, and Crohn’s disease. One special summer they all travel to a summer camp on a distant planet where they face their toughest battles all while training their minds and superpower abilities.

All proceeds of the sale of this book are tied to The Gary Forbes Foundation benefiting children battling chronic dis-eases. For more information or to download the media kit www.thesolesurvivors.com
