organizations during Black Philanthropy Month.
For more than 26 years, Girl Power Rocks has worked to improve the lives of “at-promise” girls and young women throughout Miami-Dade County. Guided by its mission, “Improving Our World, One Girl at a Time,” the organization has served more than 10,000 girls through programs like Girls Rock After-School, Sister Circle Mentoring, the Girls Intervention Program PLUS (GIPP), the Girls’ Choir of Miami and the Summer STEAM Workforce Training Camp. Together, these programs provide girls with academic support, mentorship, socialemotional development, music and STEAM education, workforce training and mental health services while creating safe, nurturing spaces where they can build confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive.
The organization is also advancing Mama Hattie’s House for Young Women, a permanent home for Girl Power Rocks’ programs and a transitional living residence designed to serve 20 young women, ages 18 to 23, aging out of foster care in South Florida.
“Give 8/28 is an opportunity for our community to come together and invest directly in the potential of our girls,” said Thema Campbell, president and CEO of Girl Power Rocks. “Every contribution helps us continue creating spaces where girls feel supported, discover their strengths and recognize the possibilities for their futures.”
This year’s giving day will take place from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. To support Girl Power Rocks during Give 8/28, visit https://www.give828.org/organization/Girl–Power–Rocks
