Frankly Speaking

By W. Frank Wilson

During my time in Atlanta, one  TV stations would come on with this statement and question: It’s 10 pm in Atlanta; do know where your children are?

This is a question that needs asking and answering in many cities.

It’s been reported that one of the victims in the ASU shooting was 13 years old and in my old antiquated school of thought my question is what business did a child that age have on a University campus without supervision? I don’t give a rat’s ass who was performing! Hell, my boy child wouldn’t have been there and my girl children wouldn’t have even asked!
My grown children, especially my daughters, to this day check with me when they’re out late or traveling because that’s how they were “Trained”.

Scripture does speak on training up a child the way he / she should go, and when they are old they won’t depart

Good parenting will create the “FRIENDSHIP “ way too many parents are trying to create with callous supervision and no accountability.

Children are actually raising parents while parents raise hell about everything except what’s important.

There’s something to be said about rules, expectations and boundaries

I know I’m old, but common sense has no shelf life.

I don’t push my theology or theocracy on others nor do I lay claim to there being a fool proof way to parenting, but I have noticed that communication works across generations.

Kids especially will live up or down to the standards set for them.

When will we stop the tail from wagging the dog?
