Jessie Trice Community Health System Receives a $400,000 Check from Congresswoman Frederica Wilson

    MIAMI, FL –– In a significant step toward improving healthcare access for children, Jessie Trice Community Health System (JTCHS) received a $400,000 check from the Honorable Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) on August 8, 2024, for a Pediatric Mobile Van and a Pediatric Dental Mobile Van. This special presentation, coincided with National Health Center Week, celebrated this year from August 4 to 10 under the theme, “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections.”

The Pediatric and Pediatric Dental Mobile Vans aim to expand healthcare access for children in the community. These vans will travel throughout the community to provide essential services to children, ensuring that care reaches those who need it most. The first unit unveiled during the event was the Pediatric Dental Mobile Van, while the second pediatric vehicle is expected to be delivered by the end of this year.

“At JCTHS, we remain committed to providing every child in the community with the medical and dental care they deserve. Thanks to the support of Congresswoman Wilson, we will be able to expand health access for our community’s children,” said President and CEO of JTCHS, Ryan R. Hawkins. “We are grateful to Congresswoman Wilson; she has been a continuous beacon of leadership and a strong advocate for our children.”

The event was attended by the JTCHS executive team, board leaders and children from Hosanna Community Baptist Church, who enjoyed games, face painting, and received special treats from JTCHS.
