Journalist and social media marketer joins BSO

      The Broward Sheriff’s Office is pleased to welcome Joy Oglesby to the Public Information Office. Before joining BSO, Oglesby worked as a social media and web content specialist at the international aid organization Food For The Poor, directing social-media strategy on six accounts with nearly 250,000 followers while increasing the charity’s online donations.

During her five-year tour of duty at the Sun Sentinel, Oglesby served as a features online producer, social media manager for news and then later as a breaking-news editor. She also successfully coordinated community forums including the 2010 U.S. Congressional debate between Allen West and Ron Klein at Lynn University in Boca Raton.

She previously worked as a copy editor and assistant entertainment editor at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Oglesby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in print journalism from Florida A&M University. She resides in Fort Lauderdale with her husband and their daughter
