MIAMI GARDENS, FL. — Florida Memorial University’s men’s soccer team will face off against New College of Florida in round one of the SUN Conference Tournament. This marks the third straight season the Lions have made the postseason, with head coach David Martinez leading the team in both years he’s been the team’s head coach.
“I am grateful to be in the tournament in this great conference again,” said Martinez. “We’ve worked hard for games like this and we are ready to compete. I believe 100% in this group.”
The Lions will go into the tournament as the No. 5 seed. They’ll take on the Banyans, who are the No. 4 seed. FMU is in search of its second tournament title, and its first since 2012.
Last season, the Lions went into the tournament as the No. 6 seed. They traveled to St. Thomas, where they fell in the opening round 5-1. The Lions last faced off against NCF on October 22, where they fell 6-0 on the road in Sarasota.
FMU is in search of its first SUN Conference Tournament championship.
