      FORT LAUDERALE, FL — Due to floodwaters in some Broward County areas from Hurricane Irma, Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) emphasizes the importance of residents and visitors protecting themselves against mosquito-borne diseases. Everyone should remain diligent in preventative measures like “Drain and Cover.”

 COVER skin with clothing or repellent.

COVER doors and windows with screens to keep mosquitoes out of your house.

DOH continues to conduct statewide surveillance for mosquito-borne illnesses, including West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, St. Louis Encephalitis, Malaria, Dengue Fever and Zika.
