“Wars are merely man’s means of killing others for things far less valuable than any human!” John Johnson II, 03/27/24
By John Johnson II
The world has suffered the most unimaginable, horrific, and hideous war crimes throughout history. Yet only to cry out, never again must we standby idly, heads bowed, hands wriggling, and with a look of despair. Hitler orchestrated the Holocaust, murdered millions of Jews and countless others he considered misfits.
Putin currently is killing tens of thousands of Ukrainians because he merely wants to reclaim their land and its rich mineral deposits. Now, Israel wants to kill Hamas even though they’re killing thousands of innocent Palestinians.
America now aids Ukraine from a far while watching Putin’s daily killings of innocent women and children. Never again rings hollow to these victims. The Ukrainians fight gallantly though wondering how to best use their remaining ammunitions.
Our Nation has painfully watched while refusing to adequately arm Ukraine with the most efficient weaponry to defend itself. The most powerful country in the world appears to act indecisively in fear of angering Putin. Republican Congresspersons refuse to approve funding for Ukraine in fear of angering Trump. The hollow words of never again mean absolutely nothing. The ravages of war continue to feed Putin’s insatiable lust for power and vengeance.
If America is more afraid of Putin than defending democracy and freedom throughout the world, we might as well concede our democracy. Trump has already convinced Republican Congressperson and his MAGA supporters that Putin’s style of autocratic governing is better.
Unfortunately, America finds itself caught up in another deadly war involving Israel and Hamas. The dilemma involves arming Israel while preventing Palestinians from suffering indiscriminate bombings, killings, and starvation. Strangely, this war has a similar beginning as did America’s Iraq war. The 9/11, attack precipitated this war.
Remember, America received a thirty-page report before September 11, warning that Osama bin Laden planned a devastating attack using jet planes. This intelligence report received little notice because sources claimed it lacked credibility.
Ironically, former President Bush, used 9/11, which killed thousands of Americans, to launch a war against Iraq. He used the false pretense that Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction. Bush’s war in Iraq resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqis. Weapons of Mass Destruction never surfaced during the entire war. Sadly, the Middle East remains destabilized..
Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu incidentally repeated Bush’s blunder. He too ignored a 48-page intelligence report presented weeks before the July massacre. This report provided clear intelligence information detailing an imminent attack by Hamas using hang gliders. As result of this blunder, Netanyahu launched a war of vengeance against Hamas. How is that Israelis can allow vengeance to cause them to turn a “blind eye” to the killings of innocent Palestinians men, women, and children?
Despite wars abroad, America is embattled in its own war at home. This war, which involves racial, social, cultural, and political issues, constitutes an existential threat to democracy itself. Bombs and bullets aren’t the weapons used to deprive individuals of life, freedom, voting rights, and pursuit of happiness. Republicans at the state levels have passed countless legislations to suppress voters’ rights and women’s reproductive rights.
Though unimaginable, a women can donate a kidney to save the life of an unknown individual but can’t abort an unwanted pregnancy, even it resulted from rape. The U.S. Constitution clearly stipulates that the government can protect all people’s rights from states intrusions. However, a divided government is even powerless to protect its democracy.
Yes, the world, which includes America, finds itself trapped in a perpetual cycle of endless wars. These wars are usually interrupted by global pandemics or the demise of the war mongers. Strangely enough, history is replete with numerous stories about the causes, consequences, and most importantly, ways of avoiding wars.
The age-old reasons for overturning democracy in America remain; Racism, White Supremacy Ideology, Religious Intrusions, and Exclusion. Settlers came to America to cast aside the monarchy and establish a democracy where all white people would be superior to all nonwhite people.
YOU BE THE JUDGE!
