Receives Two Grants for Youth Leadership Broward

Submitted by Kim Rodriguez

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Leadership Broward has been awarded a $7,000 grant from the Fritch Foundation and a $10,000 grant from the Watts Foundation for Youth Leadership Broward (YLB) programming.

“We appreciate the generosity of the Fritch Foundation and Watts Foundation and can’t thank them enough for their support,” said Andrew Zullo, Leadership Broward CEO. “Youth Leadership Bro-ward provides hands-on learning and important experiences that help shape the young men and women of our community into the leaders they are meant to be.”

Each year, Leadership Broward selects 55 high school sophomores to participate in YLB during their junior year. YLB is a nine-month program that provides an opportunity for students to gain real-life experiences through interactions with community leaders from businesses, government agencies, and civic organizations. Throughout the program, students develop essential leadership skills such as team building, conflict resolution, time management, public speaking and goal setting and impact the community through an ongoing service project throughout the year.
