Pastor Victor Curry and Rev. Jesse Jackson

By Staff Writer

Recognizing that God had work for him to complete in this vineyard, God’s still small voice beckoned Pastor Victor T. Curry to begin a new ministry, ‘New Birth’. On June 2, 1991 in his living room, Pastor Curry shared the vision with 17 individuals identified as the founding members. The following night a subsequent meeting occurred and was so fruitful that an open organizational meeting was held June 9, 1991, at Florida Memorial College with approximately 200 interested parishioners in attendance. The New Birth Ministry venture began with its first worship service at 10 a.m. on June 16, 1991 in the auditorium of the historic Northwestern Senior High School located in Liberty City.
