A proud and historic moment for our veterans and the entire Fort Lauderdale community!

The highlight of the ceremony was the official unveiling of the newly renovated Robert Bethel American Legion Post 220, celebrating decades of service and a bold step into the future.

Founded in 1947, the Post has long stood as a pillar of support for local veterans and their families. With the help of nearly $850,000 in CRA investment, the Post has been transformed from a modest 960-square-foot structure into a modern 2,544-square-foot facility which tripled in size, with a bright, open-concept design.

Additional features such as a fully modernized kitchen, ADA-accessible restrooms, flexible meeting and event space, and an outdoor area for gatherings will enhance building’s effectiveness.

This milestone also represents a major achievement in the ongoing revitalization of the Northwest-Progresso-Flagler Heights CRA area.

The Post’s enhanced facilities will allow it to better serve veterans, foster new partnerships, and deepen its impact within the community.

We’re thrilled to welcome the public into this revitalized space.

Visitors stopped by throughout the day to explore the building, connect with local

veterans, and learn how to get involved during our ongoing membership drive.

Here’s to honoring our heroes, strengthening community ties, and building a brighter future-one brick at a time. The ribbon cutting ceremony is a huge milestone accompanied by tremendous public support, especially local politicians serving the Sistrunk community.
