WASHINGTON — A Monopoly game inspired by the American sitcom “Schitt’s Creek” is coming out soon.

It was revealed on the Emmy-winning show’s Instagram handle on Oct. 7, 2021, that a new edition of Monopoly, the timeless Hasbro board game, will be released branded with the show’s characters.

The first picture from the photo thread is an image of “Schitt’s Creek” matriarch Moira Rose, played by actress Catherine O’Hara, uttering the phrase “They would have a virtual monopoly on this town.”

Other images showed the new edition’s board and colorful play money, with another offering the unique game pieces, including Rose’s rounded sunglasses and a Rosebud motel room key.

“Introducing Monopoly: Schitt’s Creek Edition,” read the caption.

The new “Schitt’s Creek” edition of Monopoly retails for $39.99, according to game supplier theop.games, as per reports.

“Join the Rose family on opportunistic adventures as you buy, sell, and trade popular locations from the show, including The Rosebud Motel, Bob’s Garage, Herb Ertlinger Winery, and more,” the description read.

Monopoly, which first came out in 1935, has had many special editions over the years, from “Star Wars” and “Pokemon” versions to those honoring “Game of Thrones” and “Rick and Morty.”

“Schitt’s Creek” is a nine-time Emmy Award winner, all won in 2020 for its final season. The show also bagged a Golden Globe Award in March 2021 for the “Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy” category. It was pitted against series like “Emily in Paris,” “The Flight Attendant,” “The Great,” and “Ted Lasso.”

In August 2021, the makers of the comedy sitcom canceled its North American farewell tour in the wake of the rise in the Covid-19 cases.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Eugene Levy broke the news for his “incredible” fans.

“When we postponed the ‘Schitt’s Creek’: The Farwell tour, we had every hope and intention of traveling to see you later this year,” read the statement.

“However, despite our best efforts to reschedule while keeping your health and safety at the forefront, we’ve found that state and local mandates vary too widely to do so in the near future. So, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all tour dates that were scheduled pre-pandemic.”

Levy also stated that the “tickets will be immediately refunded upon cancellation.”

Created by series stars Levy and his son Dan Levy, “Schitt’s Creek” is based on the members of the wealthy Rose family who move to Schitt’s Creek after losing their money. The show ran from 2015 until 2020 for six seasons.
