Unfortunately, America is on the brink of a historical moment: the 2024 Presidential election. This debate, set for September 10, is not just another political event. It’s a clash of ideologies, a battle for the soul of our nation. Former President Trump, as a convicted felon, is the first-ever Republican 2024 Presidential criminal candidate. VP Kamala Harris is the first female/Black Democratic Presidential candidate elected to represent the Democratic Party.
The decisions of America’s judicial system, particularly in allowing Trump to qualify as a presidential candidate, carry immense weight and consequences. For example, September 10 will be recognized forever as a “Debate of Infamy.” Only in America can a privileged white man who’s also a convicted felon become a candidate for the Presidency. Unquestionably, America’s Presidency is the most powerful and coveted position globally.
If allowed to occur, this debate will mock Democracy not only within this nation but throughout the world. It isn’t a secret that America remains one of the most racist Countries around the globe. It also will serve to substantiate that America is unabashedly a hypocritical Nation.
It’s shockingly unimaginable that Trump is poised, though a misogynist, felon, and insurrectionist instigator, to debate VP Harris, a distinguished Black female of impeccable character/integrity. But is this any more despicable than the Senate refusing to issue Trump a conviction, SCOTUS granting Presidents absolute immunity, and Republicans choosing Party instead of Country?
America’s voters can no longer afford to turn a “blind eye” to the complicit plots of the Republican radical right-wing party to dismantle Democracy. The pending upcoming September 10 debate of infamy will embolden this anti-democratic group.
This anti-democratic group includes powerful, wealthy oligarchies, Republican Congresspersons, Zealot Evangelicals, complicit judges, and MAGA cult followers. They constitute the drivers of this movement. The abdominal elements that unite these anti-democratic factions are their lust for power, dominance, greed, and a self-fulfilling need to sustain their white supremacy ideology.
Deliberately, I’ve tried to purge the conscience of America’s voters of misinformation and conspiracy theories rather than to say “prick” their conscience. It’s time for Democratic, Independent, and Republican crossover voters like Liz Chaney to prevent Trump from ever again becoming president.
Voters must use their ballots as though they’re sickles to cut away the evil, painful thorns of racism and lies Trump has sowed. Then, hopefully, Judge Merchan will summon the same courage to sentence Trump to jail that jurors used to convict him. This judge should realize that justice delayed is justice denied. Jurors fulfilled their civic responsibilities despite having their lives threatened.
Regrettably, the Sept. 10th “Debate of Infamy” chronicles another tragic element of America’s white privileges and systemic white supremacy ideology. No debate can salvage Trump’s Presidential aspirations or remove the shame he brought to the Presidency! And indeed, he will not escape the wrath of America’s Democratic, Independent, and Republican crossover voters.
Admittedly, voters, this debate overwhelmingly substantiated that Trump remains a lying provocateur who continuously spewed racist rhetoric to inflame his followers. On the other hand, VP/Presidential candidate Harris distinguished herself as highly knowledgeable about domestic and foreign issues. Her voice and tone reflected genuine empathy and commitment to the American people.
Further, she spoke openly and boldly about her plan to move all Americans forward rather than backward. Voters should conclude that VP Kamala Harris only looks backward as she passes Trump in the polls.
