Sorrow, Tears and Blood

The Gantt Report

By Lucius Gantt

Too many Black voters in the 2024 election voted for the Republican candidate for President.

Black men, and some Black women, were happy to vote for a scammer, sexual harasser, twice impeached, convicted felon who promised voters more money, a better life, and a better government.

Our brothers and sisters who cast their ballots for the Russian-motivated and inspired President-elect were mistaken, misdirected, and misled!

I write a lot about money and politics because money and politics go hand in hand. Where you find one, you’ll find the other.

Good government, honest leadership, perfect policies, diversity, and American unity are wonderful political desires but when compared with the promise of more dollars, money will win the American votes most of the time.

It’s good to have rich, and wealthy celebrities endorse your candidacy, but the poorest Americans need grocery money and rent money.

In my mind, if Democrats seek to increase voter support in future elections, efforts to connect with the masses of voters must begin now!

The strategy of waiting until the last month or last days of an election period is unacceptable and unworkable.

The best and easiest way to interact with Latino and Black voters in areas where Democratic votes were less than desired is to feed registered

voters and their children. If a community member is not registered, they can register at the event so all community members can attend.

A “cheap” dish for Latinos is “Paella” and a dish Black adults love is friend fish, maybe mullet or whiting, as both, if bought in Florida, or other seafood states, the fish are not very costly. Kids can get a hot dog and chips.

Local music, live or recorded, will be a bonus.

What Democrats need is up-to-date political data in swing states and every other state.

I couldn’t believe Black men on the Howard University campus were given MAGA hats that were gladly worn on the campus.

Anyway, our people need solid political education and information.

The political okey-doke is a real thing. If you don’t know politics, it is easy to see one TV ad, that you love or hate, and base your vote on one TV ad or internet post.

When you’re tricked politically, you think you’re voting for better wages or more money and you end up voting for sorrow, tears, and blood!

The President-elect didn’t take long to ignore Blacks in Congress who loved and supported him to hire a cadre of nationalists, supremacists, and an accused sex trafficker as Cabinet nominees.

The Gantt Report prays for Black wisdom and knowledge of American and world politics.

Don’t get mad at each other, get mad with the political oppressors, exploiters, and suppressors.

The Blacks that endorsed and voted for the President-elect also voted for the termination of DEI programs, affirmative action policies, the end of Federal education offices and plans, book bans, travel bans, tariffs, and more.

I know more things that Democrats can do to improve on recent vote tallies, but I won’t volunteer when MAGA Democrats get paid with Black political contributions and donations.
