It is a dark day for our country as the highest court in the land injects politics into such a critical issue of health and safety, eroding a fundamental right for millions of Americans. As Republican politicians here in Florida and across the country mount an all-out assault on our rights, one thing is clear: elections have consequences. It is horrific that we’ve reached the point of criminalizing women and medical providers, and this only increases the urgency for action at the federal level to ensure abortion access and tear down the barriers that disproportionately impact those in poverty and communities of color.
This moment is exactly why we need a strong Democrat in Washington who has a proven track record of delivering results. Results include helping other Democrats get elected locally, across the state, and nationally and not someone who is contributing to Republicans. I will continue to be a staunch defender of reproductive health in Congress because a woman’s right to choose is ultimately a personal medical decision to be made by that individual in consultation with their doctor – certainly not the government and politicians focused on advancing their own extremist agendas.
