“If One’s  Charisma Sows Racism, Distrust and Lawlessness Amongst Followers, They’ll Propagate  What’s Sowed! “  John Johnson II     09/07/23

In 2016, voters elected Donald J. Trump America’s 45th president. During his term, he was supposed to demonstrate to the Nation his leadership skills as a communicator, negotiator, and compromiser, willing to reach across the isles to collaborate with democrats. To voters’ dismay, he excelled at using his dangerous charisma to divide America, rather than making it greater.

As the Commander-In-Chief, Trump had to exemplify political awareness, command of foreign affairs, superb prudence, astute knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and the breadth and limits of his presidential powers.  Scholars deemed his presidency a colossal failure.

Nevertheless, in 2020, as the unopposed incumbent, Trump chose to run again for the presidency.  But a majority of America’s voters decided he was merely a dangerous charismatic wannabe dictator. Instead, they voted to elect Joe Biden as America’s 46TH president.

Unfortunately, Trump, rather than adhere to the U.S. Constitution, refused to facilitate a smooth peaceful transfer of presidential powers. Assuming the role of a dictator, he wouldn’t concede that he’d lost the election.

As desperation escalated for him to stay in power, he attempted to retain the presidency by frivolous lawsuits, imbecilic criminal political tactics, and the January 6, 2020 insurrection. Yet his charisma shielded his flaws and galva nized his base.

Even as Trump launched his run for the 2024 presidential election, he’s refused to acknowledge he lost the 2020 presidential election, and that Biden is the rightful duly elected president. Is this not the definition for insanity?

As Trump pursues his Party’s 2024 presidential nomination, he’s already received four indictments, which contain over ninety criminal charges.  To democrats’ dismay, he remains at the top of the GOP polls. But why does his appeal remain higher than the other Republican presidential nominees?

Trump is appealing to Republican voters because he’s mastered the art of nurturing and feeding racism, bigotry, and anti-isms to his base of white supremacist.  He’s the charismatic demagogue they envision having the cruelty towards immigrants as Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, the racism of a George Wallace against Black people, the hatred of Putin towards democracy, and the disingenuous views of morality espoused by Evangelicals.

Still, Trump’s most dangerous charismatic trait is his ability to exploit white supremacists’ fears of becoming a minority. White supremacists’ lust for power is not only to control democracy but reality itself. Their power grab is as destructive as a raging forest fire. And their willingness to support shutting down the government raises lunacy to a new Trumpian level.

Trump and his Republican followers want to able to wield the tenets of democracy to suppress Black people’s voting rights, immigrants’ desperations for freedom, and

women’s reproductive rights. Hitler as a Fascist leader, murdered Jews, gay people, Jehovah Witnesses, and persons deemed physically and mentally disabled. Just as Hitler believed Aryan German people were superior to all others, so does America’s white supremacist believe they’re superior.

Amazingly, Black people are a minority and have proudly fought with determination not only to survive but to excel against all odds. Despite having to continue to fight against voter suppression, discrimination, police brutality, an unjust criminal justice system and racism, not once have Black people attempted to overthrow this government. History fails to report the countless slave rebellions against cruel white Southern slave owners, such as Robert E. Lee, the Confederate General.

Regrettably, Trump’s base of predominately middle-class whites, non-educated, and Evangelicals have failed to realize they’re used. Yes, used by a charismatic demagogue to fulfill his political needs, as prostitutes were used to fulfil his adulterous sexual needs.

Shouldn’t Trump’s dangerous charisma be considered more villainous by Republicans than the crimes of Charles Manson and Jeffery Epstein? Is Trump exonerated because he’s them and they’re the same as him? Or was America founded on Trump’s values rather than Judeo-Christian values ?

Black people believe in these words, crafted by a 19th century abolitionist, and spoken reverently by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of America’s greatest Civil Rights fighters. Dr. King in his deep inspirational and melodic voice said, “Let us realize the Arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.”

However, Black people have learned that for this arc to bend, it must  be forcibly  litigated,   pushed, subjected to protests, and driven forward by ballots. In the words of playwright, Edward Bulwer-Lytton, “The pen is mightier than the sword,” and as Lincoln said, The ballot is stronger than the bullet.” But it has been an old Black hymn written by Albert A. Goodson, “We’ve Come This Far by Faith to Turn around,” that empowers Black people to never give up or out.

Why is it that in the “Emperor’s New Clothes,” a mere child recognized the Emperor was naked, rather than the adults? It’s written that “the weavers were dishonest about the fabric they created. This led to everyone lying to the emperor; thus, he believed the lie and walked about partially nude.” Trump’s dangerous charisma is clad in lies and weakened by a distraught mugshot!

Will it take a mere child perched on his father’s shoulder, at   a Trump’s rally, to yell, “He’s an idiot,” to finally make his MAGA followers realize it too? If a child in a legendary fairytale is the weapon to destroy Trump’s dangerous charisma, democracy is in deep trouble?
