Trump’s Titanic Like Presidency

John Johnson II

By John Johnson

Trump’s presidency from the beginning was thought to be unimaginable, even to him. Though he won, his presidency has been shrouded in controversy from the size of the crowd, to the number of popular votes he received and Russia’s interference.

Reminiscent of the grand christening of the Titanic by the British, the Republicans disavowed the many faults of Trump and have showered him with accolades. Former Senator Hatch even stated that, “Trump might be the greatest president ever.” This blind support of Trump has not benefitted America. Remember, the Titanic was hailed as unsinkable.

The demised of the Titanic resulted from  Captain Edward J. Smith’s failure to heed six warnings of unexpected icebergs in its path. Sadly, it’s said that the band continued to play as thousands onboard drowned with the sinking Titanic.

However, Trump’s Titanic like presidency demise is going to occur because of his ineptitude. Also, his presidency is sinking because of a deluge of problems he has created as well as ones that evolved due to social and international issues. Most notably, his failure to promptly address the COVID-19 and racism have resulted with thousands of deaths and the Nation engulfed with nationwide social protests.

Ironically, Senator McConnell, one of Trump’s enablers, has also ignored warnings because he’s more concerned with maintaining power and filling Federal Judge positions. Further, Trump attempts to keep his presidency afloat by using divisive rhetoric to divide the public on issues of immigration, patriotism, the economy, and characterizing the upcoming 2020, presidential election as being fraudulent.

While thousands continue to die from COVID-19, rather than unveil a national plan to address this pandemic, Trump has focused on hurling slanderous lies about Vice President, Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris, Joe’s V.P. running mate.

Republican Senators remain onboard Trump’s sinking presidency and are prepared to re-nominate him as their choice for the 2020 presidential election. Their actions are tantamount to the incompetent Captain of the Titanic being reassigned to another ship had he not perished onboard the sinking ship with over 1,500 passengers and crew members. His failure to provide effective stewardship during this voyage proved disastrous.

Voters for this momentous 2020, presidential election must ask themselves a very important question, “Are you willing to entrust Trump again at the presidential helm of this Nation given he has already caused the deaths of more than one hundred thousand individuals, more than thirty million unemployed workers, millions of businesses to close, demanded schools to reopen without additional funding, failed to enact the Defense Production Act, etc.?”

Sadly, it appears that thousands of voters are willing to again get onboard Trump’s Titanic like Presidency. But why? Former President LBJ, may have given us the answer when he said, “If you can convince the lowest White man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

Consequently, if Trump promises his base of white supremacists and the lowest white men and women that his policies will continue to disenfranchised Black and Brown people, protect their 2nd Amendment Rights, keep God in the Pledge of Allegiance and he’ll govern based on his intuitions rather than science, hell, they’ll again vote for him. For this base, democracy must be a small price to sacrifice for an un-Godly belief in white supremacy.

However, democratic, independent, and Republican crossover voters can assure that Trump’s Titanic Like Presidency sinks forever, by voting overwhelmingly on November 3, 2020, for V.P. Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris.

Dr. Immanuel alleges that she has successfully treated hundreds of patients with hydroxychloroquine, the discredited treatment Mr. Trump is still promoting despite the Food and Drug Administration revoking its emergency use authorization as a Covid-19 treatment in June.
After a reporter is believed to have pointed out that Dr. Immanuel was born in the west central African country of Cameroon and not in the US—a legal requirement to serve as vice president or president—sources overheard Mr. Kushner angrily blaming his staff for telling him that Cameroon was a US territory. Initially reluctant to acknowledge his mistake, the president’s son-in-law is said to have abruptly ordered a halt to the vetting process of Dr. Immanuel.
Vice presidential nominee speculation then turned to another Black woman; sources suggest former Bush administration secretary of state Condoleezza Rice. However, in an article in The Hill in June, Rice declined to say whether she even planned to vote for Trump in November. “You’ll be the first to know when I want to speak about American politics,” Ms. Rice said.
