Voters’ Choice: Democracy or Fascism

John Johnson

“If Democracy’s  fate lies in the hands of voters, then voters get to choose if their government will be Of,  For, and By the People !”         John Johnson 10/22/24

By John Johnson II

In America,  voters don’t always have to declare their political affiliation except in a primary election. During general elections, a voter can cast a secret ballot for the candidate of their choice. However, it’s crucial to understand that one’s vote reflects one’s beliefs and values. For instance, voting for a Presidential candidate who campaigns as a pro-Fascist may reflect a tacit endorsement of Fascism, an anti-democracy system.

The critical signs of Fascism, as reported, are imposing extreme authoritarian rule,  demonizing racial groups, rejecting the view that violence is harmful, supporting forceable suppression of opposition, and holding mass rallies to generate enthusiasm for their regime. Does this description fit former President/Presidential candidate Trump or VP/Presidential candidate Harris?

Simply put, if a  Democratic or Republican voter believes in Democracy but votes for a candidate who subscribes to Fascism, they are anti-democratic and support dismantling  Democracy. Further, suppose Evangelicals and white supremacists elected to vote for a Presidential candidate who openly demonizes Black people and immigrants. In that case, they too, undoubtedly hold similar sentiments.

Despite being a Pro-Fascist and a convicted felon, America’s voters are casting their ballots for Trump, the Republican Presidential candidate. VP Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, is running to preserve Democracy and ensure that Trump never again sits in the White House.

Trump’s four felony charges for attempting to overturn the 2020 Presidential election would not only earn him a classification as a domestic terrorist but a Pro-Fascist as well. VP Harris, as a former California Prosecutor and District Attorney, has only a record of prosecuting criminals and is a staunch defender of Democracy.

Voters who have elected to cast their ballots for Trump knowingly have decided to support Fascism instead of Democracy. This voting behavior also suggests that these voters’ bond is with a racist felon who attempted to overthrow his government and reign as a dictator or Fascist leader.

America finds itself embroiled in a Republican ideological war and faces a crucial battle that will determine the future of our governance. The choice between Fascism and Democracy is stark, and the 2024 Presidential election between Trump and VP Harris is a pivotal moment in this struggle. President Biden frequently states, “We’re in a battle for the soul of our nation.”

The 2024 Presidential election between Trump and VP Harris, which faces a narrow margin of difference, is a sobering reminder of the state of our nation. The outcome of this election will shape our future, determining whether we continue as a Democracy or veer toward Autocracy or Fascism. Each voter is responsible for making a choice that aligns with our nation’s democratic values, thereby shaping the future of our nation.

Given all that reporters have chronicled or said about Trump, voters must choose between VP Harris’ pro-democracy platform and Trump’s brand of Fascism. However, a brief history review will reveal a startling fact. No Major political parties have chosen a presidential candidate who hasn’t run on a pro-democracy platform until now. This historical moment underscores the gravity of your decision.

Trump is merely the head of the  MAGA snake-like cult of pro-fascist followers. At the same time, the slithering body is Republican voters filled with venomous hatred and bigotry. They’re primed to use their ballots as fangs to “strike down” Democracy.

Amazingly, to their surprise, VP/Presidential candidate Harris leads a coalition of tens of millions of Democratic and independent voters. Their ballots will serve as antidotes to defend and preserve Democracy.

Remember, the future of our nation is in your hands; the choice is stark, and the time is now. Will it be Fascism, grounded in exclusion and white supremacy, or Democracy, grounded in inclusion and freedom?

YOU BE THE JUDGE!
