Watts Named Preseason HBCU All-American

Senior earns BOXTOROW Honors

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman defensive back Antwone Watts has been named an HBCU Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, it was announced Tuesday morning by BOXTOROW.

Antwone Watts, a 6-foot-1 safety from Columbus, Georgia, transferred to Bethune-Cookman from Louisiana-Monroe during the summer of 2024. He’s earning his first preseason all-conference recognition after turning in 70 tackles (37 solo) in his first season for the Wildcats. That total allowed him to finish third on the B-CU squad in total tackles, as he went on to add two interceptions and a forced fumble as well on the campaign.

In total, 15 HBCU programs are represented of the 31 selections.

BOXTOROW has named All-America teams since 2007 based on voting by national media who cover HBCU football.

Bethune-Cookman begins the season Friday, Aug. 29, when the Wildcats travel to Florida International for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Miami. The first SWAC game for the Cats takes place Saturday, Sept. 27, when the Alabama A&M Bulldogs visit Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach at 3 p.m.
