We are still determined

(In Memory  of Trayvon Martin)

 By Debra D. Allen

We are still determined not to let your killing

Just slide

We are still determined not to let your killing

Just slide

Into just any particular archive of atrocity

We are still determined not to let your life

Be just another uneventful even in the Universe of Democracy

This latest instance of racial profiling in Sanford, FL

Fits all the descriptions of a   pre-existing condition

That seems to deem who looks suspicious?

We haven’t come so far

From being, who we are

Because in some people’s mind

Being Black is a crime

However – We are still

     determined

Still walking Civil righteously-through our current Rosa Parks

Tragically-the trust-continues to be breached

However we are still determined

To Keep the Peace

To Keep the Peace

To Keep the Peace
