FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. – The community came together to recognize exceptional visionaries and changemakers whose leadership, service and dedication strengthen the fabric of Broward County during Leadership Broward’s annual Fun Lunch at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Recognized this year among the honorees was Ella Phillips, Chief Executive Operations Officer of the Law Office of the Public Defender and a member of Leadership Broward Class XLI. She is heavily involved in the community, creating the Office of the Public Defender Summer Justice Program, chaired Fort Lauderdale’s first-ever Sealing and Expungement Workshop and has served on the Sistrunk Historical Festival Board of Directors, Broward County Community Action Board, Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, City of Fort Lauderdale Redevelopment Advisory Board, Taskforce for the Broward County Elimination of Schoolhouse to Jail House, and the Executive Committee of the NAACP Fort Lauderdale Branch.
Also honored this year were Brett Atkinson, Moss Construction; Kathleen Cannon, United Way of Broward County; Shira Kastan Goldstein, ADG Strategy Group, Harley Miller, Miller Construction; Stephanie J. Toothaker, ESQ., Toothaker.org; and Giancarlo Zuniga, Truist.
